What is there to See and Do at The Barbican Centre, London

The Barbican is a world class arts and learning centre. It pushes the boundaries of all major art forms including dance, film, music, theatre and visual arts.

There are many things to see and do during a visit to the Barbican Centre and you could easily spend a whole day there. The Barbican Centre is only a 3-minute walk from the nearby Montcalm hotel, The Barbican Rooms or a 25-minute tube journey from The Montcalm London Marble Arch hotel.

· Level G

This public space is where everyone’s visit starts. Here you will find free installations, commissions and events. Level G is a great place to visit at any time of the day and is ideal for meeting friends, relaxing before a show or using the desks to catch up on work. Level G is always open and always free.

· Barbican Tours

Throughout the year there are organised tours of the Barbican Centre. On these tours you can discover the Barbican from a new perspective. There is a family adventure trail, a conservatory tour and an architecture tour. If you want to make this experience a little more special then you can also combine an architecture tour with dinner in the onsite Ostena Italian restaurant, or with a cocktail in the Barbican’s Martini Bar.

· The Barbican Conservatory

This is the 2nd largest conservatory in London and hides a tropical oasis within the city. The Barbican conservatory is home to exotic fish and over 1500 species of tropical plants and trees. There is no booking required and admission to the conservatory is free making it an ideal venue for enjoying a lazy day out with the family.

· Shopping at the Barbican

There are two main shops within the Barbican Centre. These shops offer items from gifts, books and souvenirs to exclusive commissions from designers.

1. Barbican Shop, level G — offers design-led gifts, stationery, cards, and accessories.

2. Art Gallery Shop, level 3 — a wide selection of books, prints, stationery, gifts and more. Here you can also order from the official exhibition catalogues.

· Barbican Library

A vibrant public library in the Barbican Centre providing books, spoken word recordings, DVDs, CDs and scores. The library is located on level 2 and within it you will also find the Music Library and the Children’s Library, and these are the areas that that the Barbican Library prides itself on.

· Eat and Drink

If you are staying locally at a Montcalm hotel and fancy dining somewhere different to The Montcalm restaurant, then there are plenty of places to relax and refuel at the Barbican Centre. Whether you are visiting for a quick bite or to enjoy a pre-theatre dinner, there is a restaurant or café to suit every need.
